Saudi Cabinet approves plan to build 450 new villas in densely populated areas in big cities
The Saudi Cabinet is planning to spend more than $240m on the construction of 450 new villas in densely populated areas in big cities and towns around the Kingdom over the next three years for the accommodation of more than 9,300 orphans.
Each villa will accommodate between 18 and 20 orphans and is expected to cost about $533,000, according to Abdullah Al-Yousef, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs. A similar amount will be earmarked for maintenance and upkeep of each villa, the official noted.
“We are planning to build our own villas, which will be a substitute to the traditional accommodation of orphans,” said Al-Yousef.
