Hill International awarded KAIA airport contract
Construction risk management firm handed contract to oversee control management and oversight services for the $1.5bn Jeddah airport by the General Authority of Civil Aviation
Global leader in construction risk management, Hill International has received control management and oversight services contract for the $1.5bn King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA).
The one-year contract was awarded by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), which includes overall improvement programmes for the airport in Saudi Arabia’s capital city.
The contract has an overall estimated value of $3.8m, where “the expansionwill be a landmark development for the Jeddah region and for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Raouf S. Ghali, president of Hill’s Project Management Group.
KAIA plans on meeting the projected annual volume of 70 to 80 million passengers by 2035, with plans that include technologically advanced terminal facility with a 30 million passenger annual capacity rate.
The project will also see the development of a new air traffic control complex, transportation centre and railway station accommodating the high-speed rail between Makkah and Madinah, air-side and land-side road network as well as taxiways.
