Abu Dhabi’s Zakum Development Company (Zadco) has awarded local National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) and French group Technip a contract to build an offshore oil field in the Emirate worth around $817m.
The oil and gas services contractor NPCC and Technip said the contract is one of several major deals the two firms have been awarded in Abu Dhabi this year.
Under the contract,NPCC and Technip will build the first phase of Zadco’s expansion, located on its offshore field in Abu Dhabi, with an expected increase in production of 100,000 barrels per day when concluded.
Ranked as the fourth largest oil field, Upper Zakum produces over 500,000 bpd. Zadco unveiled plans to raise the production rate to 750,000 by the year 2015.
