Himoinsa focuses on cutting genset noise, maintenance intervals

Generator giant Himoinsa showcased its generator sets and lighting towers at Middle East Electricity, shining the spotlight on its new Silent Plus range for the rental market and on its machines designed to offer long service intervals while returning optimal performance in extreme desert conditions.

According to the Spanish company, the power generation market in the Middle East calls for better levels of performance optimisation and Himoinsa’s generator sets are designed to withstand extreme conditions as well as offer more versatility and autonomy to operate in different markets. Some of the highlights of the company’s range include generators with increased maintenance intervals and new models with reduced noise emissions.

According to Guillermo Elum, Himoinsa’s sales and marketing director, the HRFW-250 T5 is the first model of a new range of quieter generator sets for the rental sector. Powered by an FPT engine, it guarantees a noise level of 61dB ±2 at a distance of seven metres thanks to an improved and more complex design of the air intakes and outputs. It is part of the Silent Plus range, which incorporate two exhaust silencers as standard and top quality insulating materials, such as high-density, 100mm thick rock wool, as well as silent blocks specifically resized for the engine-alternator assembly and its dynamic characteristics.

Himoinsa also showcased its generators with Yanmar engines, which include a special kit that allows for longer maintenance intervals of up to 1000 hours. The kit includes a larger tank, which supplies extra oil to the engine, which implies a significant reduction on filter costs and downtime. This feature is available in both the Industrial range- HYW from 8 to 45 kVA- and the Rental range –HRYW from 16 to 40 kVA-.

“The long maintenance interval is a great advantage for rental and telecom applications because it guarantees more autonomy and reduced operation costs, especially for the sets installed on remote sites,” said Elum.

In addition, the generator sets from the Industrial Range can incorporate a fuel tank of 1000 litres, 10 times bigger than the standard offering, which reduce refueling trips to the site. With the gensets working eight hours a day, this guarantees running times of up to 70 days, Elum added.

Another set on display at Himoinsa’s stand was the HSW-650 T6/5 Dual Frequency, which is powered by a Scania engine and supplies 806kVA of stand-by power at 60Hz and 738kVA at 50Hz. According to Himoinsa, its dual frequency capability meets the versatility required by companies who operate both in Saudi Arabia, a 60Hz market, as well as in other countries with a 50Hz frequency within the GCC region.

Himoinsa also exhibited its HTW-1030 T5 model, which supplies up to 1.110 kVA of power in less space. “Our engineers have been able to reduce the model’s size by 8.5 cubic metres so that to fits within an L canopy, giving it an added layer of soundproofing when compared to the already existing 20-foot container,” Elum added.

Himoinsa also showed off its Apolo Start series of lighting towers designed to operate continuously and withstand temperatures from -20 to 45ºC. The AS4006V model from the series that was on display at the show offers more autonomy, less consumption and easier transportability, the manufacturer said. Transport space is optimised by its manually activated vertical telescopic mast and it is able to provide a total of 384,000 lumens continuously for up to 70 hours on one tank of fuel.
