STATS Group sets eyes on MENA region
Scottish firm planning to grow its share in the growing regional construction sector
Aberdeen-based pipeline engineering company, STATS Group has appointed the Middle East North Africa’s (MENA) first regional director, Angus Bowie, following a recent decision to spend $5m on expansion plans across the region.
Following its recent win of a ten-year multi-million dollar contract from Qatargas, STATS is planning to grow its share in the growing regional construction sector. Bowie previously held the post of technical director in Aberdeen, before his recent relocation to Abu Dhabi with the task of overseeing the new opening of workshop, warehouse facilities and recruitment of staff.
Pete Duguid, the chief executive of the group said the region will be contributing 30% of the firm’s 2012 overall revenue, with a predicted rapid growth in successive years.
“The intent is to develop all business streams in region whereby we will have the capacity to provide isolation and intervention services and a dedicated process plant solutions division offering shut down rental services and hydrostatic testing. Our focus will also involve developing our subsea services position,” he added.
