A construction crane collapsed onto Dubai’s busy Sheikh Zayed Road on Friday, amid unusually strong winds in the UAE.
The Dubai Media Office said the incident caused at least one casualty and caused three cars to burst into flames.
“A crane has collapsed on Sheikh Zayed Road. Authorities are handling the situation to ensure safety of everyone on site,” the official media office said.
“Initial report of casualties one injured & evacuated to hospital for treatment. 3 cars on fire & Civil Defence teams are dealing with the blaze.”
The Dubai Metro system was suspended in the area as a precautionary measure, the Dubai Media Office added.
