RAK Properties signs $8m enabling works for resort

RAK Properties, Ras Al Khaimah’s largest property developer listed on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, has announced the signing of a $8.16 million enabling works contract with Al Nuaimi Group for the upcoming Anantara Resort & Spa within the Mina Al Arab development.

The contract will include the piling and earthworks for the 306-room resort, which will be operated by Minor Hotels under its Anantara brand, when it opens in late 2018. The property will also feature the first ‘overwater villas’ in Ras Al Khaimah, four restaurants, a spa and other leisure facilities.

“Once construction is complete, Anantara Mina Al Arab Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa, will form a key part of the international hospitality offering of our largest development in the emirate, providing visitors and residents with an iconic venue to relax and be entertained,” said Mohammed Sultan Al Qadi, managing director and CEO of RAK Properties.

The project will be situated on a site measuring 73,664sqm within RAK Properties’ Mina Al Arab development, and will have its own 9,000sqm private beach overlooking an eco-reserve lined with mangroves. It will be Minor Hotel’s first venture in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

The property will include a ballroom with another events and meeting space, and a dedicated kids’ and teens’ club. It will also offer a number of F&B and dining options to guests and visitors.

Situated 45 minutes from Dubai International Airport, the Mina Al Arab development is a major part of Ras Al Khaimah’s economic growth, attracting signficant numbers of tourists and guests.

Earlier this year, the developer announced the next phase of development for the Mina Al Arab project, with an investment of $1.36 billion. The 811,420sqm development will feature an international five-star hotel, an international four-star lifestyle resort, serviced apartments, shopping mall and a variety of residences and facilities.
