Al Ghurair Iron and Steel to double HDG capacity

Move is part of the firm’s phase II expansion plan that will double the current HDG capacity, CEO says
Abu Bucker Husain, the chief executive officer of Al Ghurair Iron and Steel(AGIS), a subsidiary of the Al Ghurair Group and the UAE’s sole producer of cold rolled and galvanised coil, has said the firm is preparing to commission the company’s new hot-dip galvanising (HDG) line by the end of 2013.
The move is part of the firm’s phase II expansion plan that will double the current HDG capacity, Husain said. Once brought on line, the new equipment will raise Al Ghurair’s HDG capacity from 200,000 to 400,000 tonnes/year, in line with the firm’s current cold rolling and pickling production capability.
