Barwa Real Estate signs major deals for projects

Barwa Real Estate, the Qatari real estate and investment group, has signed a number of major deals at Cityscape Qatar 2012, it was announced on Sunday.

Following the successful launch of its Lusail Golf Residential Development, the real estate group has signed deals to lease more than 100 show rooms and offices on Barwa Commercial Avenue. In addition, Barwa City, the mega project being built outside Doha, has leased four buildings to Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lule Hypermarket. It has also signed a long term contract with Newton International Schools for two schools and four kindergartens.

“We are overwhelmed by the positive interest we received at Cityscape, from visitors, tenants and other organisations. The number of agreements signed at the event is a testament to the leading role Barwa continues to play in Qatar’s development,” Abdulla Abdulaziz Al Subaie, CEO of Barwa.

During the event, Barwa showcased a number of leading projects, including the $1.92bn Barwa Commercial Avenue, Barwa al Baraha, the largest workers accommodation camp in the Gulf and Barwa City, the 1.35m m2 development.

The real estate developer’s portfolio also includes Barwa Al Sadd, a $659m mixed used development consisting of three office towers and a five star hotel. Barwa Al Doha is another mixed use development that covers an estimated built up area of 324,000m2. Other local projects include Barwa Village, Masaken Barwa and the Lusail Golf Residential Development.

The group currently operates across 13 countries, including the UK, Turkey, Egypt, France and Russia.
