Intertek named quality consultant for Al Maryah Central in Abu Dhabi
Testing and certification company to offer various project-related assurance and consulting services
The testing and certification company Intertek has been appointed as quality consultant for Al Maryah Central in Abu Dhabi, according to a joint statement with Brookfield Multiplex, the retail project’s main contractor.
Intertek will implement a quality assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting programme to assure the complex building performance requirements meet rigorous quality standards.
This includes reviewing and approving the submittals of all façade elements such as glass and glazing, stone and glass cladding, and different types of skylights to cover 9,000 square meters of glazing on the roof. The work also includes testing to ensure the stone types used meet the mineralogical, chemical, physical and mechanical properties required.

Due to open in 2018, Al Maryah Central is a retail-led mixed-use development owned and managed by Gulf Related, the joint venture partnership between Gulf Capital and associated companies. Al Maryah Central, combined with The Galleria on Al Maryah Island will deliver a 2.8 million-square-feet super-regional mall in Abu Dhabi.
