Xylem inaugurates first Middle East manufacturing facility
Global water technology provider launches plant in Jebel Ali, Dubai, where it will provide technologies and services to regional customers
Xylem, a global water technology company, this month launched its first Middle East manufacturing facility, located in Jebel Ali, Dubai.
The 19,000 square metre facility will be used to produce the company’s pump brands and provide services to customers across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Xylem said in a statement.
“The Middle East and North Africa region has always been a priority market for us,” said Steve Leung, Xylem’s Senior Vice President and President for the Emerging Markets.
“The new manufacturing facility is part of the $35 million investment we’re making in the region and will provide our customers with more high-quality, efficient services and products.
“The manufacturing facility represents the beginning of our long-term commitment to working with local partners and governments to help solve their most complex water challenges.”
One of the products to be launched at the new facility is the Flygt Concertor, a “smart, interconnected wastewater pumping system”. The pumping system senses the operating conditions of its environment, adapts its performance in real time and provides feedback to pumping station operators.
Xylem’s $35 million MENA expansion plan is set to continue through to 2018, and includes investment in a number of facilities across the region, including the pump manufacturing facility, a pump rental and services operations, and offices in Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar.
