The UAE-based Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) says it achieved a 8.9% saving in energy consumption for district cooling during a four-month summer campaign.

The district cooling service provider said its ‘Saving Starts at 24°C’ campaign, which ran from June to September, was implemented with the aim of reducing consumption during peak times.

“We are proud of what we have accomplished together with our valued customers and achieving significant rates in terms of cooling energy consumption for our mutual benefit,” commented Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO, Empower.

The summer campaign, which ran for the third consecutive year, reflects Empower’s vision to optimise the use of resources and energy, reduce costs, as well as reduce the environmental impact and carbon emissions, which usually reach their peak during the hot summer months, the CEO noted.

Empower currently operates more than 1,100,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT), providing district cooling services to large-scale developments including Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence and Dubai International Financial Centre.
