Dubai Municipality has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with global chemical manufacturer Dow Chemical with a remit to “advance sustainable construction”.
Conducted at Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa on Sunday June 3, the MoU was signed by Dubai Municipality’s Eng Hania Bastaki and Eng Ali Ellian and Dow’s MEA general manager Dr Ilham Kadri and global research and development director Dr William E. Jackson, who travelled to Dubai for the event.
“This memorandum will advance sustainable construction in one of the most visionary cities in the world,” commented Dr Kadri.
“Dubai will become an inspiration to its neighbours. The vision of His Highness is the driving dforce behind the central laboratory work and we are honoured to be part of that,” she added.
Describing the municipality as a “committed and inspiring partner”, Kahri explained the two will conduct ongoing research and push for better codes through design and engineering advancements, which will provide the “foundations of new legislation in Dubai and the GCC”.
Dow will use Dubai Municipality Central Laboratory to conduct tests and R&D for new products meeting sustainability criteria set out by the municipality.
“This win win relationship will benefit both parties and is a platform for new achievements in our work,” said Eng Bastaki.
