Construction work on the Four Seasons Hotel in Bahrain Bay is proceeding ahead of schedule, the project’s management team confirmed on Wednesday.
With the fifth level of towers completed, client representative and Bayside Developments general manager, Bob Vincent, said that the success of the project was key for the Gulf Arab state. Not just for its real estate market, but also on a national economic level.
“As one of the cornerstone components of the Bahrain Bay, we all understand that a project of this scale is an opportunity to demonstrate Bahrain’s emergence from the global financial crisis, and its sustainability as a GCC tourism hub,” he said in a report carried by Gulf Daily News, a Bahrain based newspaper.
“We have been extremely impressed with the way the contractor, Six Construct; have initiated the start-up stages of the main works. Working in partnership with a number of local contractors, they have responded to a demanding critical path and timeline,” he added.
“As the project further evolves towards our targeting opening of 2014, we will see further evidence of how the construction, tourism and government sectors of Bahrain are collaborating to support growth opportunities.”
With the project already creating more than 700 jobs, many filled by Bahraini nationals, Vincent said that the hotel will demonstrate developer’s long term commitment to Bahrain.
More than 500,000 accident free working hours have been logged on site as well, he added.
Situated on a private island at the heart of Bahrain Bay – the high-profile waterfront community – the luxury hotel is set to inject new capital and create new careers for both the real estate and hospitality sectors.
Vincent said that the project is predicted to bring in direct and indirect economic benefits equal to approximately $300m over the next five to seven years. GCC tourism will be the major driver of this growth.
Six Construct – who has worked on major projects in the region, such as the Burj Khalifa, Ferrari World, Khalifa Stadium and the North Manama Causeway – has a 1,200 strong team that work on a two shift programme to complete the project on schedule.
Standing at 201 metres, the hotel consists of 263 hotel rooms across 50 storeys.
