Abu Dhabi’s Musanada says projects worth $1bn awarded

The Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) has announced that fifteen infrastructure development projects worth $1.08 billion have been awarded to nine contractors.

The projects will see the development of roads and residential neighbourhood infrastructure on the outskirts of the UAE capital city and in the Western Region. Work has already begun on a few projects, with all expected to be completed by late 2019, the company said in a statement.

Aweidha Al Marar, chairman of Musanada and chairman at the emirate’s municipal sector regulator – the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport – said that the projects aim to ensure adequate living standards for the capital’s growing population, while also enabling the emirates’ development.

Ali Al Mehairbi, acting executive director of Building Construction Management at Musanada, added that the company had made efficiency in performance and enhanced services a priority.

Five of the awarded projects will be centred in the Western Region town of Madinat Zayed, with Saif Bin Darwish, a civil engineering and building contractor, awarded the rights for three of those projects – including a 45-month contract to build roads and infrastructure for an Emirati housing neighbourhood worth more than $266.76 million.
