$53m Phase 1 of KSA’s Al Baha University completed

The first phase of development at Al Baha University in Saudi Arabia has been completed at a cost of $53.32m, senior executives have announced.

The university is expected to spend $1bn by the end of the year on 12 new projects, a news report by Zawya said. Completed projects include the community college building and the faculty of science, Dr Saad bin Mohammed Ahariqi, director of Al Baha University, told the newswire service.

The two buildings includes classrooms, theatres, faculty offices and elevators on an area of 33,000m2 and a value of about $26.6m each.

Yahya Al Manah, the university’s director of public relations, said that the budget for the current year was $970m for the implementation of 12 new projects, including the design and construction of the faculty of sciences and arts in Al Makhwah governorate at a value of $23.9m.

The faculty of arts and humanities at the University City at a cost of $23.9m as well, Al Manah added. Furthermore, the university will build a preparatory building costing $6.66m, four mosques costing another $6.66m and a central library, main lecture hall and exhibition centre at a cost of $15.9m respectively.

Al Manah added that all of this would be implemented in phases and that facilities such as restaurants, sports facilities and operation and maintenance centres would also be added over the course of the project’s schedule.
