The state-owned Private Engineering Office (PEO), which overseas high-profile developments in Qatar, has said that it will deliver three new hospitals by early 2017, The Peninsula reports.
The company said that the hospitals, located in the Industrial Area, Mesaieed Industrial City and Ras Laffan in Qatar, will be handed over to the Ministry of Public Health by early next year.
Each new hospital will have a capacity of 120 new beds, outpatient clinics, ambulance services, operation theatres, a radiology department and laboratories. In addition, each of them will also contain an independent health centre, green spaces and parking facilities.
The report says that these hospitals will be dedicated to treating single expatriate workers, and is part of the expansion plan of Hamad Medical Corporation to open seven new public hospitals and increase the number of hospital beds to 1,100 across Qatar by the end of 2017.
Qatar News Agency said, quoting a PEO statement: “The new hospitals will be delivered to the ministry in the last quarter of 2016 and the beginning of next year. Then the ministry will begin to equip and prepare to open the hospitals and receive patients according to a scheduled plan.”
“This project (three hospitals) will have a significant impact and make a qualitative leap in health services in Qatar. It would contribute to easing the burden on the existing hospitals and provide better services to citizens and residents towards achieving Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030,” it said.
