GASCO announces that Habshan 5 construction 90% complete

Entire project was completed within a period of 33 months, despite completion of contractual period being 50 months

Up to 90% of the work on the Habshan 5 project has been completed, the Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (GASCO) announced on Sunday.

Work on the project is scheduled to finish in May, the company said, adding that the entire project took a period of 33 months, from the completion of contractual period of 50 months.

A report from GASCO’s in-house magazine said that this feat put the Habshan project amongst the best and the highest rates of achievement for such mega-projects around the world.

In a statement, GASCO attributed this success to good business planning, creative initiatives from the management and the seriousness and earnestness of all parties involved to finish the project ahead of schedule.

“What increases the value of this achievement is that it has maintained the best quality and highest standards of environment and safety,” the company said.

The Habshan 5 process plant has been designed to process 1000MMSCFD offshore gas from Umm Shaif and an additional 1000MMSCFD onshore gas comprising of a mix of associated gas from ADCO (1.8MBPD expansion) and non-associated high sour gas from Habshan fields. (Total plant capacity: 2150MMSCFD).

The facilities are designed to produce 750MMSCFD sales gases, 1200TPD NGL and 5,200TPD Sulpher.
