Bahra Cables wins $79.9m contract for new Jeddah Airport

Bahra Cables Company, the Saudi Arabian affiliate of the Construction Products Company, has recently signed an agreement to handle the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

Under the terms of the deal, Bahra Cables will supply medium-voltage cable worth $79.9m for the first phase of the project, which will accommodate 30 million passengers annually.

“This mega project confirms that our cables are capable of meeting the needs of major construction companies rather than importing them from abroad,” Talal Idriss, chief executive officer of Bahra Cables, said.

He added that Bahra Cables produced high, medium and low voltage cables which were fire resistant and did not emit smoke or toxic, suffocating gases, in case of fire or electric circuit shortage.

“The company has acquired several certifications for its production of power cables. The company as well, got ISO 9001:2008 for its collection of medium and high voltage cables up to 132kV. Bahra Cables is also the first Saudi cable manufacturer to get an ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007,” Idriss added in a report carried by Arab News, a Saudi based newspaper.
