Kuwaiti contractor acquires 13 new Grove cranes

Kuwait-based construction and oil and gas contractor Arabi Enertech has acquired 13 new Grove cranes for an oil and gas project.

Supplied by the Kuwait distributor Equipment Co., the cranes include three Grove GMK3055 models, four GMK4080-1 models, four GMK5130-2s, one GMK6300L and one RT530E-2, said a statement from Manitowoc, owners of the Grove brand. The majority of the cranes have already been sent to work on oil fields in Kuwait by Arabi Enertech, the statement added.

Khalid Behbehani, chief operating officer at Arabi Enertech, said his company selected the cranes to help meet the oil sector’s rising demand for heavy equipment.

“As an oil and gas contractor, we require a number of cranes to carry out routine maintenance work on oil fields and refineries,” Behbehani said. “We have been buying Grove cranes for a number of years and have always been satisfied with their performance and the after-sales support. In particular, we like to utilise the Grove RT530E-2’s main boom, which is capable of handling multi-ton rigging operations.”

The three-axle Grove GMK3055 has a capacity of 55t and features a 43m boom with Twin-Lock pinning, while the 80t capacity GMK4080-1 features a 51m boom. The Grove GMK5130-2 features a 60m six-section main boom, while the 300t capacity GMK6300L offers the longest boom in its class at 80m, which can extended further with a 37m jib. The RT530E-2 has a capacity of 30t and features a 29m four-section, full-power boom.

“We have worked with Arabi Enertech K.S.C since 2006 and have an excellent relationship with them,” said Sebastian Joseph, assistant sales manager at Equipment Co. W.L.L. “They offer the same high-quality service to their customers as we do, and their work philosophy fits well with the goals of Manitowoc. We look forward to seeing them continue to develop their presence in Kuwait.”
