Major fire at Dubai Marina tower put out
No injuries reported after blaze at 75-storey Sulafa Tower – Dubai Media Office
A blaze at a 75-storey residential tower in Dubai Marina has been brought under control, with no injuries reported, officials said.
Residents of Sulafa Tower were earlier on Wednesday evacuated to ensure their safety after a major fire broke out, according to the Dubai Media Office.
“Dubai firefighters completely put out Sulafa Tower fire in less than 3 hours; no injuries reported from incident,” the official government body said later via Twitter.
Reuters reported that 10 to 15 storeys of the Sulafa Tower is charred, but no other details regarding the cause of the fire were given.
The blaze marks the fifth recent incident of its kind in the UAE.
Previous fires include a residential building in Ajman in March, the fire at The Address Hotel in Downtown Dubai on New Year’s Eve, and blazes at 79-storey and 34-storey Dubai residential buildings in 2015 and 2012 respectively.
