Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the construction of internal roads in the city’s Al Barsha South 2 area, along with all infrastructural requirements associated with the project, according to WAM.
While the total length of roads built in the project was 16km, the construction work also included building a rainwater drainage network, revamping the electricity, water and irrigation grids, as well as installing LED street lighting in one of the prime residential areas of central Dubai, the UAE’s official news agency said.
“The project also included the construction of public parking for residents and RTA public buses, and (installing) traffic (stoppage) devices near pedestrian crossings. The RTA has modified and activated the traffic signal on the crossing of street B2B1 and Al Barsha South High Street,” said Nabeel Mohammed Saleh, director of roads, RTA Traffic and Roads Agency.
The project is part of phase one of the RTA’s internal road construction project in Al Barsha South, covering a total of 60km and comprising by-roads extending 49km as well as main roads extending 11km. The project also included improvements to existing roads, installation of new traffic light systems on the intersection of Streets E136 and D11, and installing LED technology for streetlights throughout the area together with rainwater drainage works, the RTA said.
