Incentives, standards and knowledge needed in green building

Financial incentives, energy efficiency standards and enhanced sustainable design knowledge are expected to be hailed as the only way to “go green”, by international experts including Adrian Smith and Masdar’s Dr. Nawal Al Hosany.

The Build Green Congress, to be held alongside this year’s The Big 5 November 22-24, will also welcome experts including Keith Clark, head of sustainability at Atkins, Mario Seneviratne, director of sustainability at US Green Building Council and Prof. Jean-Louis Scartezzini.

Speaking on the incentives and guidance needed to “make green mainstream”, The Build Green Congress is intended to provide a platform for knowledge share and debate on a number of topics related to environmental impact.

The three day congress will have one “vision day”, dedicated to  collaborative discussions on international perspectives; insight from experts on the drivers for change and challenges being faced.

Two actions days will follow that will see delegates encouraged with case study examples of strategic approaches and how challenges have been overcome.

“What was once a ‘buzz’ word in the boardroom is now commonplace,” said Andy White, event director for The Big 5.

“The need for products and solutions that make the construction process more efficient, economically and environmentally, has meant the platforms we have created to showcase this have grown significantly to encompass every element of the event – from the conference, the exhibition as well as the increasing popularity of our environmental recognition programme, the GAIA Awards.

“With this in mind, the decision to launch The Build Green Congress this year has been extremely well received, and has attracted a very high calibre of speakers regionally and internationally,” White added.
