WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has announced that Greg Kane will be taking over as managing director of the Middle East business from Tom Bower.

Kane will oversee the engineering professional services consulting firm’s offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and KSA, covering a total of around 1,400 employees.

Kane previously worked with Hyder Consulting Middle East and joined WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff back in 2013 as the operations director. Over the years, he has managed the development and implementation of strategy, prospect management, project delivery and operations while focusing on client and stakeholder engagement.

“Over the last year the business has seen a lot of change with the integration of WSP and Parsons Brinckerhoff – I am conscious of this and I am keen that we hold on to many of the things that have served us well in the past, but that we take this opportunity to evaluate the type of work we want to do to allow us to be successful in a regional landscape that is ever changing,” Kane told MEConstructionNews.com.

As for his long-term plans for the company, Kane believes that the business is on a solid footing. “I would like the company to continue to focus on the things that separate us from our peers and build on them but also to evaluate some areas of our business and improvement where we can. We will focus on retaining and developing our best people, attracting exceptional new people in to our business and selecting the best clients and projects. Simply my vision for the Middle East business is that we are focused on our people and our clients.”

He also says that like any other business in the region there will be challenges along the way. However he is still excited about the opportunities in the Middle East as well. He says, “After nine years in this region it’s the opportunities that the region still presents that excites me. Expo 2020 and Qatar 2022 are the obvious ones, but there will be many others as countries and economies in the region continue to build and develop. To be here and to play a part in that is very exciting.”

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s global chief operational officer, Paul Dollin, also commented on Kane’s appointment, saying: “We have very talented and passionate people in the Middle East which has been instrumental in our success to date. I am delighted that Greg has taken on the role to lead our business. I look forward to working with Greg as we continue to focus on our clients and our people to deliver some of the world’s most exciting projects.”
