Architecture practice Broadway Malyan will enter the Indonesian market following the award of a contract to deliver the master plan for Cilandak Bisnis Square, Jakarta.
Appointed by client Bhumyamka Sekawan, this is the firm’s first Indonesian project, following a string of projects in almost every other continent.
To date, the concept and master plan, architecture and branding have been completed for the 11.7 hectare site, which will feature a cluster of high rise development, with business hotels, as part of a “sustainable business community” for major international companies, according to Bhumyamka Sekawan.
“This prestigious project is drawing on the diverse skills, expertise and experience of our expert global design team of masterplanners, architects and designers, which is partnering with the client and wider project team to deliver a high-quality, user-focused and commercially-successful scheme,” commented the firm’s director of masterplanning, Ed Baker.
“It is also our first project in Indonesia, where we are actively growing our business, which is distinguished by its global reach, unrivalled diversity and distinctive client focus, as part of our international growth strategy,” Baker added.
The design will focus on a central square theme, inspired by the Javenese planning concept of the ‘alun alun’, the traditional town square and heart of civic activity, with the square set to feature a Banyan tree to symbolise power and future success.
It is hoped the development will become a flagship for sustainable office development in Indonesia; a market projected to represent 4% of global construction spending this decade. Recently, Broadway Malyan has designed seven new schools in Abu Dhabi, in addition to Park Avenue 05 at DIFC; and the 55-storey Panorama tower, in Jeddah Saudi Arabia.
