Donald Trump and Spiderman to open MEFMA conference

Guest speakers to comment on strength of Dubai real estate

It may not be the most conventional way to open a facilities management conference, but Donald Trump and Robert Alain, aka the human Spiderman, will be doing just that next month at Dubai World Trade Centre.

Addressing the conference via video link, Trump will speak about the potential in the regional real estate market, and the need for continually high standards in the FM industry.

Trump and Alain will be joined by RERA CEO H.E. Marwan Bin Ghulaitha; global FM Association chair, Teena Shouse; and author and journalist Greg Lindsay, who specialises in the future of cities.

“The conference comes at a time of particularly strong growth for the regional industry,” comments Jamal Lootah, chairman for MEFMA and CEO of FM provider, Imdaad.

“In the Middle East, the facilities management industry is expected to be worth US $8 billion by 2013 operating at a profitability margin between 10% and 15%. But there is room for further growth, providing that it continues to adhere to best practice and markets itself to developers, architects and landlords that understand its value,” Lootah added.

Speakers at the conference will include EC Harris, EFS, eSolutions Maximo, Vivoteq, Transfield Mannai Facilities Management Services, Chayora and Hyder Consulting.

“Facilities management is becoming the barometer for a developing economy because it marks the completion of new developments being handed over with improved consideration for the service agreement,” added H.E. Mohamed Al Mehairi, CEO of Musanada and MEFMA board member.

“Likewise, FM is prolonging the value of existing buildings by updating operational efficiency and allowing investors to remain focussed on their business. So understanding its impact on the built environment is critical and the conference will help by discussing the market issues which are affecting wider FM adoption,” Al Mehairi continued.

Pledging to be carbon neutral, the MEFMA Conference will take part March 11-12, at Dubai World Trade Centre.
