Kanoo group appoints regional distributor
Dubai-based Power Systems Gulf to cover Middle East Power Systems Gulf LLC (PSG) – part of the Kanoo Group – has been appointed regional distributor for Perkins.
Supplying off-highway diesel and gas engines in the 4 – 2,000 kW (5 – 2,800 hp) market, Perkins will extend its market reach to cover Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Yemen.
The newly appointed distributor will operate from offices in Dubai, taking responsibility for distribution strategies; management of the distribution and sales of Perkins engines; commercial operations; and development and product support.
“The consolidated structure seeks to deliver the critical mass to support the necessary investments in the new PSG organisation to build a dedicated customer focus to deliver a robust and consistent brand experience that will benefit our customers and end users,” Commented director for EAME / CIS distribution, Howard Beeken, who described the news as an “exciting development”.
Additional operations will see PSG exploring new opportunities in OEMs and training; with a new centre opening at its Jebel Ali premises.
“The Gulf is an important region for Perkins and we are confident that by working together with PSG we will ensure continued success here,” Beeken added.
400 Series ElectropaKs
At the same press conference, it was announced Perkins is to launch two new products in the near future. The first belongs to the new range of its 400 Series ElectropaKs at Middle East Electricity 2012 (pictured left).
Perkins says the 400A range has been developed to provide cost effective power and the introduction of the 403A-15G2 model is particularly significant as it meets the all important 15kVA prime power node. This key node is normally met by using larger displacement engines but the improved power density, made possible through mechanical governing, of the 403A-15G2 means it offers the same performance but in a smaller package size.
There are four new engines in total, all of which come in ElectropaK specification providing a turnkey package for direct integration into generating plant. The 403A-11G1 offers 9.2kVA prime power at 1500 rpm, the 403-15G1 is rated at 13.2kVA prime power, slightly less than its G2 counterpart, while the larger displacement 404A-22G1 completes the line up with 20.3kVA prime power on tap.
An engine from the 1600 series
The 1600 Series ElectropaK family (pictured right) comprises a range of full authority electronic control, turbocharged, air-to-air charge-cooled engines that have been developed to provide prime and standby power in a clean and cost-effective fashion with special emphasis placed on improved power density, reliability and robustness.
The six cylinder, 9.3 litre range offers outputs up to 300kVA (240 kWe) prime power and 330 kVA (264 kWe) standby power at 1500 rpm – both key nodes – though the intention is to release a 350kVA (280kWe) standby version later in the year.
