Nakheel Mall in Dubai ‘close to 50% complete’

Construction of the AED1.2 billion ($327m) Nakheel Mall in the centre of the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai is almost 50% complete, the developer says.

The superstructure of the 4.5 million square foot retail, dining and entertainment hub is set to complete in the third quarter, Nakheel said in a statement.

The mall’s three underground parking levels, with 4,000 spaces, are nearly complete, while Nakheel said work on the mall’s VIP entrance and rooftop features, which include two fountains and two waterfalls plunging as far as 65 ft into the mall, is “on track”.

The Nakheel Mall will have five retail levels with 350 shops, restaurants and leisure attractions spread across 1.2 million sq ft of leasable space, Nakheel said.

Nearly 60 per cent of shop space at Nakheel Mall has been booked by retailers including Waitrose, Vox Cinemas, Adidas, Breitling, French Connection and Montblanc. There will also be a fine dining roof plaza.

Nakheel also plans to build The Palm Tower, a 52-storey hotel and residential complex, next to the mall – for which a separate construction contract was awarded last year. That project is due for completion in 2018.
