Abu Dhabi’s ADFG reveals plans for New Scotland Yard in London
Ten Broadway redevelopment project set for completion in 2021
The Abu Dhabi Financial Group (ADFG) has unveiled plans for the redevelopment of New Scotland Yard, the famous headquarters of London’s Metropolitan Police, according to UAE state news agency WAM.
ADFG has secured approval from the planning committee of the Westminster City Council in London for the ambitious six-building Ten Broadway development, it was reported.
The one-million sqf (92,903sqm) project will be managed and developed by Northacre London, and will comprise residential, office and retail space in the prime Central London area.
“The approval by Westminster City Council for the redevelopment of the Ten Broadway site is a major milestone in our ambition to replace a world famous headquarters with a world class premises,” said Jassim Alseddiqi, CEO of ADFG
“With the Ten Broadway and 1 Palace Street projects in development, ADFG is behind some of London’s most desirable new addresses and the largest projects undertaken in Central London this decade.”
Set for completion in 2021, Ten Broadway will be located between the Parliament and Buckingham Palace.
The redevelopment project is designed by architects Squires and Partners, while Bilfinger GVA was appointed planning consultants.
ADFG acquired New Scotland Yard from the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime for £370 million ($514m) in a landmark deal signed in December 2014. The Metropolitan Police, the force that covers most of the UK capital, has been based at New Scotland Yard since 1967 but is now being moved to another site on the Victoria Embankment.
ADFG, through its majority stake in Northacre, is also involved in the redevelopment of No.1 Palace Street, located in Central London near to Buckingham Palace. With an expected completion date of 2018, the 302,377sqf (28,092sqm) development will comprise 72 luxury apartments, a restaurant and health and fitness facilities.
