Reem Mall, the $1bn retail development under construction in Abu Dhabi, has appointed a consultancy to manage retail design and delivery.

Funtastic – a design and project management company with offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Singapore – was appointed to work on the Reem Island-based project, according to a press statement.

The company has previously worked on UAE projects including The Beach JBR, City Walk and Box Park in Dubai. It is currently engaged with the Midfields Terminal and Deerfield’s Mall projects in Abu Dhabi.

“Funtastic will provide important coordination and management services for our future tenants. They join a strong team of consultants and advisors who are all working together to ensure that we bring new world class levels of design, construction and operation to the local retail environment,” said Shane Eldstrom, Chief Operating Officer for Reem Mall.

Work on Reem Mall commenced in late 2015, and the project is expected to launch in 2018.

The mall, which is being developed by the Kuwaiti firms NREC and UPAC, will include 2 million square feet of leasable area and around 450 stores.
