Msheireb Enrichment Centre, a floating educational and community facility located on Doha’s West Bay corniche, received the Swedish Vice Minister for Trade, His Excellency, Gunnar Oom.
Measuring 91m long and 24m wide, the centre is meant to symbolize the land and sea, the desert life of the Bedouins and Qatar’s maritime traditions of pearl diving and fishing.
Built by Msheireb Properties, the centre aims to marry urban living and traditional Qatari architecture and design, while also contributing to the social and cultural heritage of Doha.
Minister Oom led a high-level Swedish government and business delegation to the centre, where they were taken on a guided tour of the property by Issa M Al-Mohannadi, CEO of Msheireb Properties.
The party also viewed a detailed model of the $5.5bn Msheireb Downtown Doha project. They were fully briefed on the construction progress at the development and its progress in promoting and adopting sustainability measures.
Launched in 2009, Msheireb Properties is a real estate subsidiary of the Qatar Foundation. Its flagship development, Msheireb, is the world’s first sustainable downtown regeneration project in a modern metropolis redevelopment in the historical centre of Doha.
