Contracts signed for UAE housing schemes worth $170m
Residential communities planned for Northern Emirates
Contracts have been signed for the construction and maintenance of two housing projects in the Northern Emirates, according to the UAE state news agency WAM.
The Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme inked contracts for communities in Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah worth a combined AED 622.65 million ($170m), it was reported.
Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, and Chairman of the Zayed Housing Programme, signed the contracts.
The first contract, worth AED298.65 million and signed with the National Gulf Construction Company, includes construction and maintenance of 320 houses in the first phase of Butain Al Samer Residential Community in Ras Al Khaimah. The community is billed as a “social city”, whereby 50 percent of the student inhabitants will be able to travel to school by foot or bicycle.
According to the contract, site preparation work will commence in April while foundation work will begin in May.
The minister signed the second contract, worth AED324 million, with the Combined Group Contracting Co. to build and maintain 232 houses on a total area of 833,448 square metres in Umm Al Quwain.
