Developer Nakheel has awarded a $96m contract to build The Circle Mall in Dubai to a subsidiary of Drake & Scull, it was announced on Wednesday.
Gulf Technical Construction Company (GTCC), Drake & Scull’s general contracting subsidiary, was awarded the contract to build the mall, which will be located in Jumeirah Village between Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, Al Khail Road and Hessa Street.
The contract brings the total value of project awards won by the Dubai Financial Market-listed firm to AED 2.43 billion ($661 million) so far this year, Drake & Scull said in a statement.
The Circle Mall is set comprise 235 shops, a multi-screen cinema, health clinic, cafes, restaurants and a food court, spanning more than 432,000 sq. feet in total built up area.
Nakheel previously announced that about half the leasable space has been reserved by retailers such as Spinneys, Oscar Cinemas and the Early Learning Centre.
“We are pleased to start off the fourth quarter of 2015 on a strong positive note via the AED 353.75 million Circle Mall project award for our general contracting subsidiary GTCC,” said Khaldoun Tabari, CEO and Vice-Chairman of Drake & Scull International.
“The project win has helped DSI achieve AED 2.43 Billion in project awards since the start of 2015, and we remain optimistic about securing more high profile projects before the end of the year.”
The contactor said on Monday it had won a $61 million contract related to work on an unnamed hotel complex and the expansion of a mall in Dubai.
