The Saudi Organisation for Industrial Estates and Technology Zones, known as Modon, says it plans to establish four new industrial cities for working women, reports Arab News.
The new industrial cities will be set up in Jeddah, Yanbu, Qassim and Al-Jouf in Saudi Arabia, it was reported.
The move is in accordance with a decision by the Council of Ministers to allocate land within existing cities for the establishment of industrial areas that offer employment opportunities for women.
Modon is said to be in the process of coordinating with other parties to designate more industrial land for this purpose.
Sami Al-Husseini, Marketing and Public Relations Director at Modon, said that the organisation is applying a strategy to establish units for employment that meet international standards and that are environmentally friendly.
Modon Oasis in Al Ahsa is Saudi Arabia’s first industrial city completely run by women. The 500,000 square-metre facility has more than 80 factories, and those up and running include operations in the industrial, trade and service sectors.
