UAE to build $381mn residential city in Fujairah

The UAE government will build a $381 million residential project in Fujairah, following directives from the president, the state news agency reported.
The UAE President’s Initiatives Committee has endorsed the construction of the residential city to improve living conditions for citizens in Fujairah, WAM reported.
The construction of the 2.2 sq km city was ordered this March by Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah.
The project, expected to help low-income Emiratis, will comprise of 1,100 residential units. The units include 300 five-room villas, 700 four-room villas, and 100 villas for widows and small families.
The city will also have other amenities like mosques, clinics, schools, parks, shopping malls and a community centre.
The committee, chaired by Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, has instructed authorities to start the design process for the city and prepare for rendering utilities and services to meet citizens’ needs.
Commenting on the project, Al Zaabi said the residential city would achieve stability and social security for the families, it was reported.
