Clifford Chance to advise on Qatar 2022 projects
Law firm will advise on the development of projects, including development of 85,000 – seat main stadium for World Cup

Clifford Chance, the international law firm, has been appointed by the Supreme Committee for Qatar 2022 as an advisor for its technical program, it has been announced.
Amongst its duties, the law firm will advise on the development of the main ‘Iconic Stadium’ for the FIFA event, which will seat more than 85,000 fans.
“We are delighted to have been appointed by the Supreme Committee on this landmark infrastructure program for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and we are excited to be working on a project of this magnitude. It is also a privilege to be working on a high profile project such as the Iconic Stadium which will set the benchmark for stadium development,” said Richard Parris, Doha Office managing partner at Clifford Chance.
He added that the law firm’s expertise in procurement for major sporting events, its ability to mobilise an international team and its significant experience in Doha helped it win the mandate. Clifford Chance has been involved in events such as the 2012 London Olympics and Poland’s Euro 2012 program.
It has also advised on other major sporting stadiums such as Wembley National Stadium, Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge and Spartak Stadium in Moscow.

In Qatar, Clifford Chance has advised on a number of major projects, including The Pearl Qatar, Doha Festival City and Ras Laffan II. The firm has also recently advised QNB on the acquisition of Société Générale’s stake in National Société Générale Bank Egypt, the largest cross-border financial services M&A deal in the MENA region in 2012, a report in the Saudi Gazette said.
It was also an advisor for Mannai Corporation on its acquisition of Damas International
