Saudi governor announces $4.2bn funding for 513 Taif projects

159 projects have been completed, with another 288 under construction and 66 approved, Fahad bin Abdulaziz bin Muammar says

The Taif governorate will spend $4.2bn to fund 513 projects in the province.

Fahad bin Abdulaziz bin Muammar, governor of Taif, recently announced that more than $4.2 billion would be allocated for the implementation of 513 infrastructure and service projects in the governorate and affiliated provinces.

The governor said that 159 of these projects were completed, with another 288 currently under construction. A further 66 have been approved within the current budget, a report by Arab News said.

Muammar added that projects in the education sector numbered 199, of which 100 were completed. 76 are under construction, while 23 have been approved within the budget at a total cost of $773.3 million. In terms of higher education projects, eight projects have been completed, with a further 32 under development.

Another three higher education projects have been incorporated into the budget, with costs reaching $853.3 million.

Work is also underway at five technological projects at a cost of $64.03 million. Approximately $450 million has been allocated for the construction of 66 education institutions throughout the governorate, he said.

33 water projects were approved at an overall cost of $605.3 million, while 11 have been completed. 14 remain under construction, while construction work is set to commence on eight projects in the months to come.

Road projects captured a big share of the budget allocated for the Taif Governorate standing at a total of $503.9 million for 89 projects, the governor revealed.

Muammar said eight power projects were approved in the current budget at a cost of $341.13 million.

Regarding health care projects, he disclosed that 16 facilities have been completed from the originally planned 36 projects, with an allocated budget of $583.8 million for this sector.

On the aviation front, three out of five projects have been finalized at an estimated cost of $469.3 million, while $50.34 million was set aside for 23 endowments projects, he said.

On the other hand, funds allocated for municipal services and projects in the Taif Governorate and affiliated provinces stand at $282.65 million.
