Global architect Gensler awarded Wafra Seef contract in Kuwait
Project is a dining and entertainment complex south of Kuwait City
Global architecture and design firm Gensler have been appointed to design Wafra Seef, a premier food & beverage and entertainment destination in Kuwait.
The company has already worked on Kuwait’s premiere mall, The Avenues, which is in Phase III of construction.
Wafra Real Estate has appointed Gensler to provide full design and supervision consultancy services. This dining destination will be the first of its kind in the region, the developer said in a statement.
Wafra Seef is located along the coastline of the Al Mahboula Area just south of Kuwait City. The 5,760m2 location holds the advantage of stunning sea views over the Arabian Gulf (east) and direct access from the main coastal road (west).
“In recent years Kuwait has experienced an emergence of new trendy dining developments. Wafra’s intent is to build the ultimate dining destination, catering to Kuwaiti Nationals and expats alike,” states Mr. Tareq Abu-Sukheila, Managing Director of Gensler, Abu Dhabi.
Wafra Real Estate has also requested the Gensler design team to research and implement additional alternative lifestyle functions, such as gyms and sports areas.
The company was founded in 1965 by Art and Drue Gensler, and their associate James Follett. In 2011 Gensler generated more income than any other company of its type in America.
