Construction work begins on Phase One of $4.5bn New Alamein City
New Alamein City is expected to house over three million people by the end of the initial development
Construction work has begun on Phase One of the $4.5bn New Alamein City. The project is taking shape on the North Coast of Egypt and will spread over 202m sqm.
15 towers are being built as part of Phase One of the project, while Phase Two will comprise 10 towers, said Mohamed Zaghloul, head of projects department at the Council of New Alamein City. The towers in Phase One are being developed by City Edge Developments, a partnership between the New Urban Communities Authority and the Housing and Development Bank.
Billed as one of the new generation of ‘million cities’, the development will ultimately feature residential, education, tourist and service projects, according to a report by website Mubasher. The city is expected to house more than three million people following the end of its first stages.
Earlier, City Edge Developments launched ‘Mazarine’ and ‘The Gate’ projects in New Alamein City. Occupying over 411,600sqm, Mazarine features 296 villas, chalets, and twin houses and overlooks two lakes.
