Oman’s Galfar Engineering and Contracting wins $222mn road project
Contract includes the addition of two lands for the dualization of the Rusail-Nizwa road project in the Sultanate
Galfar Engineering and Contracting Company, the Oman-based construction company, has announced that it has won a major road project contract worth $222 million from the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
In a statement, the contractor said that the contract’s scope of work includes the addition of two lanes for the dualization of the Rusail-Nizwa road project in the Sultanate. It added that the ministry was currently working on finalising the contractual procedures and that work on the project is likely to start in the last quarter of the year.
Galfar added that mobilisation work will be completed within two months once it gets the go-ahead from the ministry. The entire project is scheduled to be completed within two and a half years, it added in a filing to the Muscat Securities Market.
“This is to inform our shareholders and investors that the Tender Board has awarded Galfar a tender on ‘addition of two lanes (lane 3 and 4) to dualisation of Rusail–Nizwa road from exchange of MEW to exchange of Al Sharqiya road (part 1)’ vide the letter of the Ministry of Transport and Communications dated May 8’,” it added.
