Series offering high power density and smaller footprint joined by other engines and control units on display
Cummins has introduced its new C450 D5 genset model, part of the new QSG12 diesel engine series for commercial and industrial applications, at Middle East Electricity 2018 taking place at Dubai’s World Trade Centre.
The series is available from 400-450kVA at 50Hz and from 350-400kW at 60Hz. The C450 D5 model is powered by a Cummins four cycle, inline, six-cylinder dual speed diesel engine. The global engines and power products major said the new product has an improved design and an advanced combustion system, enabling it to offer more power for less space by delivering a much higher power density and a more reliable power solution.
The C450 D5 can run parallel with both other gensets and grids to fit diverse job-site requirements. Additional features include extended service intervals of 500 hours and unaided cold start capability at 12°C.
Alok Joshi, Cummins’ director of Power Generation Business in Africa & Middle East region, said: “Our new product model is based on the QSG12 engine series, offering a much higher power density. This means that we now have a true prime-power capability to offer our customers, based on a fuel-optimised variant. The new product model includes many design and performance improvements and it is a definitive step forward for us.”
Also on display at Cummins’ stand was the C1540 N5CC, the newest addition to the QSK60 gas engine portfolio, with options that make it suitable for both independent power producers and combined heat and power applications. Supplying electrical efficiency of up to 43.8%, the upgraded model can reduce total cost of ownership and deliver high power efficiency, said Cummins.
Cummins is also showcasing its new 9.5l G-Drive Coolpac series. Displayed in the newly released Cummins black colour, the 6LTAA9.5-G1 G-Drive Coolpac model is available at 350kVA. According to the manufacturer, with a 24-valve and a larger flow injector design, this new model delivers one of the highest power-to-weight ratio in its class.
The Digital Master Control 8000, a fully automatic, distributed logic controller suitable for remote applications, is also among the products displayed at Cummins’ stand.
The new Digital Master Control system can control diverse power sources such as solar, genset and wind and makes it easier for users to integrate and adapt varying power needs. With available remote access and monitoring, users can securely access the control system and view up to 90 days of data logging at any time and from anywhere.
