Nakheel partners with Hilton for new Dubai hotel
256-room DoubleTree to be part of developer’s Al Khail Avenue mall
Dubai’s Nakheel has signed on Hilton Worldwide to manage a 256-room hotel at its upcoming Al Khail Avenue mall in the city’s Jumeirah Village Triangle area.
The developer said in a statement that it has signed a letter of intent with the global hospitality major for the proposed 18-storey hotel, which will be managed under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand.
Nakheel announced the new hotel last month as a major new feature of its Al Khail Avenue retail, dining and leisure project. It will be directly linked to the mall’s 350 shops, restaurants and entertainment outlets, the developer’s statement said.
The hotel’s 256 rooms will include four suites and it will also have an all-day restaurant, coffee shop, lounge, outdoor terrace, pool deck, gymnasium and car park, as well as a leisure club with preferential membership rates for residents of the Jumeirah Village Triangle community, said Nakheel’s statement.
Nakheel awarded the AED1.5 billion ($408m) contract to build the mall and hotel complex earlier this month. Construction will begin in October with completion expected in 2019.
Nakheel has around 5,200 rooms across 14 hotels and serviced apartment buildings at various locations in Dubai, while its retail project portfolio – the biggest in the Middle East – has more than 16 million square feet of leasable space in operation or under development.
